About Steve
Steve was the firstborn and biggest kitten of the litter, and for most of his little life he was also an unapologetic mummy’s boy. A miniature version of Mumma in his black-and-white markings, Steve initially thought the safest possible place in the world was right beside her. New things were suspicious, adventures were best left to somebody else, and wandering too far from Mum was simply unnecessary.
Then, in the past week, Steve apparently discovered that being a kitten is actually quite fun.
His confidence has blossomed. He has become Seth’s chief wrestling partner, and the two boys now spend enormous amounts of time chasing each other through the house, wrestling, playing and generally creating kitten-level chaos. Steve has become increasingly curious and cheeky and is beginning to investigate the world rather than watching it from Mum’s side.
He loves toys, food, ambushing his humans on the couch and — more recently — climbing onto his foster mum’s lap to attack her bracelets. He is a bit of a goofball, frequently following Seth’s lead and then enthusiastically joining whatever questionable activity his brother has discovered.
Steve still has a softer, cautious side. If something frightens him, he may retreat and hide until he feels safe again, and he seems a little uncertain about heights when being picked up. He isn’t the kitten who needs to prove he is the bravest in the room. Instead, he is the kitten who is learning every day that the world is safe enough to explore — and watching that confidence develop has been lovely.
Because Steve clearly gains confidence from companionship, his ideal home would give him plenty of company and interaction. He could thrive with a compatible cat or other animal companion, or with humans who have enough time each day to play, engage with him and help him continue building his confidence.
He has not yet been exposed to dogs or children, so introductions to either would need to be gradual and positive.
