About Mavis
Mavis is a gorgeous young girl who has spent most of the time we have known her being Mum rather than simply being Mavis.
She came into foster care from a pound in June, heavily pregnant, frightened and unsure of the world around her. Within days she gave birth, and since then she has devoted herself completely to raising her babies.
She has been an incredible mum — protective and attentive, while still trusting her foster carer enough to handle and help with her kittens from the very beginning.
But Mavis is still only around 18 months old herself.
While her babies have spent their first weeks wrestling, climbing and learning how much fun it is to be a kitten, Mavis still seems unsure what toys are. We don’t know what her life was like before care, but she gives the impression of a young cat who may never have had much opportunity to simply feel safe, play and be loved.
That is what we want for her next.
Mavis deserves a home where she can discover what it feels like to be safe, cherished and cared for. A home where food appears every day, hands mean gentle pats, and she can sleep without needing to protect anyone. Maybe she can finally have a little of the kittenhood she missed.
One thing she already does brilliantly is talk. Mavis is wonderfully chatty, loves a conversation, enjoys her food and can be very affectionate once she feels secure.
She has been wary of other adult cats while pregnant and raising her babies, so a quieter home where she can initially be the only cat may suit her best. She has not yet been exposed to dogs or children.
