This handsome young Kelpie has been through more than most dogs ever should. Following ongoing chronic issues, Baller recently underwent a leg amputation. While many dogs might slow down after such a life-changing event, nobody seems to have told Baller. He has taken it all in his stride, tackled his recovery like an absolute champion, and continues to approach life with the same enthusiasm and zest that makes Kelpies such incredible dogs.

Baller is, first and foremost, a Kelpie at heart. The loss of a leg has not changed his drive, intelligence or desire to be active and involved. He wakes up ready for the day, eager to explore, learn and engage with the world around him. He's a bright, capable boy who thrives when he has a purpose and enjoys being mentally and physically challenged.

Like many working breeds, Baller isn't suited to a sedentary lifestyle. He is looking for people who genuinely understand Kelpies and what they need to be happy. While he may only have three legs, he still requires plenty of exercise, training and enrichment to keep his busy mind occupied. Puzzle toys, scent work, training sessions, interactive games and opportunities to use his brain will all be important parts of his future life. Without enough stimulation, Baller can become bored and frustrated, and like most intelligent working dogs, he'll often find his own ways to stay entertained.

Baller would love a home that can offer space, adventure and inclusion. Whether that's acreage, an active rural lifestyle, or a home committed to providing the physical and mental outlets a Kelpie craves, he'll thrive with people who see him as a companion and partner rather than simply a pet. He wants to be involved, to have things to do, and to share life with his people.

While Baller is a lovely dog, he is best suited to an adult-only home where his needs and boundaries can be understood and respected. He may be able to live with another dog, provided they are well matched and introductions are managed thoughtfully. A calm, compatible canine companion could be a wonderful addition to his life. If you already have a dog and would like to adopt Baller, you will need to bring your dog in for a meet and greet so we can ensure a good match.

Through everything he's faced, Baller has remained a sweet, affectionate and incredibly brave boy. Much of his frustration comes not from his disability, but from wanting to get on with life and do all the things a young Kelpie loves to do. His recovery has showcased just how adaptable, hardworking and determined he truly is.

Baller isn't looking for sympathy. He's looking for opportunity. He's looking for someone who can see beyond the missing leg and recognise the clever, loyal and spirited dog standing in front of them.
