Saturn

Saturn is 18 months old, technically an adult, but emotionally? He's still recovering from the very rude experience of being a stray and discovering that the world is, in fact, quite scary.

When Saturn first arrived at the shelter, he was completely shut down.

No one knows exactly what happened to him before he came into our care. We only know that he arrived frightened, unsure, and carrying the kind of sadness that breaks shelter staff's hearts. He kept himself small, quiet, and out of the way, as though he was worried taking up too much space might get him into trouble.

The thing about Saturn is that even at his most frightened, he never stopped wanting to love people. Slowly, day by day, he's started letting us see the cat hiding underneath all that worry.

Now when we open his door, Saturn greets us with soft eyes and curious sniffs. Offer him a little treat and suddenly the brave version of Saturn appears. He'll gently bunt your hand, lean into pats, and purr while soaking up affection. If you stop, don't worry. Saturn will often come right back and politely inform you that the cuddle session was not, in fact, finished.

His confidence is still a work in progress. His tail says, "I trust you," while the rest of his body sometimes says, "But let's remain slightly concerned about everything just in case." Watching Saturn interact can feel a bit like watching someone try to enjoy a rollercoaster while simultaneously questioning all of their life choices.

And honestly? It's incredibly endearing.

One of our favourite discoveries has been that Saturn seems to enjoy company while he eats. Whether he's a social eater or just appreciates emotional support during breakfast, we'll let his future family conduct further scientific research into this phenomenon.

As a black cat, Saturn unfortunately has another obstacle to overcome. Black cats are often overlooked in shelters while other cats are chosen first. We don't think that's fair because have you seen him? He's basically a tiny, purring house panther with the softest heart imaginable.

Saturn is looking for someone willing to be his safe place.

Someone who understands that confidence isn't built overnight. Someone who'll celebrate the little victories, like the first head bump, the first nap out in the open, or the first time he decides that your lap is now his property.

This sweet boy didn't come into the world expecting to need saving.
But here he is.
A young cat who found himself alone, scared, and uncertain, doing his very best to trust again.

Saturn doesn't need a hero in a cape. He just needs a human with patience, kindness, and maybe a tube of cat paste.

Please don't let this beautiful black cat grow up in a shelter. Saturn has already survived being alone. Now he deserves to know what it feels like to finally be someone's family
