Pongo, the greyhound

Meet Pongo! A big, happy boy with an even bigger love for people, Pongo is all about pats, affection and making new friends. One of his cutest quirks is the huge toothy “grin” he gives when he’s feeling playful, before bounding over to soak up some attention.

Pongo would be comfortable in either a house or apartment. He loves a good nap and, despite being a big boy, doesn’t need loads of space to be content. He is also very well toilet trained, which should help make apartment living nice and easy.

He is currently living happily with a greyhound sister and enjoys having another dog around. He has been fantastic when left for up to five hours with his foster sister, happily snoozing the time away. While another dog gives him some extra confidence and companionship, he could also adjust to being the only hound in his new home.

Pongo walks beautifully on lead without pulling, although strangers may find themselves on the receiving end of his charm. He LOVES people and will happily wander their way in the hope of scoring a pat! He has also been relaxed when seeing small dogs and cats while out walking, showing more interest in saying hello than making a fuss.

He can get adorably excited when greeting people, bouncing on the spot in an attempt to get close enough for a kiss, but keeps his paws to himself. He could potentially suit a family with younger children who are comfortable around a large, enthusiastic greyhound.

Stairs are still a work in progress. Pongo can manage them, but coordinating all four legs is apparently an advanced skill! His back legs occasionally seem to get the memo a few steps late, making his stair-climbing technique both effective and very entertaining.

Above all, Pongo is a wonderfully happy and loving boy. He adores affection, loves being around people and brings plenty of personality and joy with him. If a big smiling greyhound who thinks strangers are simply friends he hasn’t met yet sounds like your kind of dog, Pongo could be your perfect match. ❤️
