About Larry - Lala
💙 Every Greyhound Has a Story… Meet Larry 💙
Four-year-old Larry is a very special boy looking for the right home to begin his next chapter. 🐾
Also known as Larrikin, Triple Threat, LaLa or Big Laz, Larry may only have three legs, but he certainly doesn’t let that stop him!
Larry badly broke his front left leg while doing zoomies as a pup and, although he never raced, he’s grown into a happy, confident boy who still enjoys short walks, backyard zoomies and being part of everything his family is doing.
And then there are the toys. 😂
Larry LOVES his toys — possibly even more than food! He likes to collect all his treasures in his bed, which may include his toys, your toys, shoes and the occasional tea towel. Don’t worry though, he’ll happily give them back… they might just be a little soggy. 🤣
He loves playing with soft toys with his humans or happily entertaining himself. He really does live up to the saying “Happy as Larry!”
🏡 Larry’s Perfect Home
Because Larry is a tripod, his home needs to be suitable for him physically. Carpet or plenty of rugs and no stairs are really important, as hard, slippery floors can be difficult for him to navigate.
His foster family even has hallway runner rugs that can go with him if his new family needs them. 💙
Larry would prefer to be the only dog in his home. He is friendly with other dogs, but being a three-legged boy means he moves a little differently and could easily be knocked over by his four-legged friends.
He can manage being home alone during normal working hours provided he has his beloved toys to keep him company.
Larry is a big, sometimes clumsy boy, so we don’t feel a home with small children would be the best fit for him. He is also not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets.
Getting in and out of the car is something he’s still working on — understandably, jumping up is a little trickier when you only have one front leg! Once he’s in though, he’s perfectly happy.
His foster dads probably describe him best:
“Larry was born to be a pet, and it shows in all the love and affection he gives us as foster parents. He doesn’t let anything slow him down, except maybe a patch of tiles.”
– Foster Dad Nori
“Having a hound that hops can come with challenges, but Larry makes it easy – and he’s so easy to love, too. He will be a great best friend for someone!”
– Foster Dad Charlie
Larry doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for him. He just needs a home that understands what works for him, plenty of toys, a few strategically placed rugs… and someone who appreciates a very happy, slightly soggy-treasure-collecting tripod. 😂💙
If you think you could be the right family for Larry, please get in touch!
