About Sanchez
Meet Sanchez
Sanchez is a sweet and affectionate boy who has settled beautifully into house life and is quickly showing his foster family what a wonderful companion he can be. His foster carers describe his coat as incredibly soft and velvety, and Sanchez is very much a professional snuggler who loves being close to his people.
He is house-trained and has settled well into a home routine, and his favourite combination is a high-spirited game of tug followed by a long, deep snooze beside you. Sanchez has a medium energy level, with a definite side of zoomies... he is generally a relaxed couch potato indoors but can become very enthusiastic when he’s excited, complete with impressive laps around the house or yard.
He is still working on his leash manners and learning to greet other dogs politely, as he can get a little too excited when he sees them. Sanchez is also working through some separation anxiety and can become worried when his people leave, so his adopters will need to continue building his confidence and teaching him that being alone is okay. He would be best suited to someone who works from home or is home most of the day, with the time and patience to continue his training and provide plenty of companionship.
My ideal home:
Sanchez is looking for a patient and understanding home where he can continue building his confidence and developing his leash skills and ability to spend time alone. Someone who works from home or is home for most of the day would be ideal while he continues working through his separation anxiety. A secure yard where he can safely stretch his legs, enjoy some zoomies and play his favourite games would also be a big bonus. His new family should be committed to ongoing training and helping him become the best version of himself.
My energy level:
Sanchez has a medium energy level with a definite side of zoomies! Inside, he is generally a relaxed couch potato who is more than happy to snuggle up and snooze beside you. When he gets excited or happy, however, he can turn on the afterburners and enjoy some very enthusiastic laps around the house or yard. A good balance of exercise, play, enrichment and plenty of downtime will suit him perfectly.
My suitability to children:
Sanchez would be best suited to a home with adults or older children. He is a big, enthusiastic boy and his happy zoomies can be quite energetic, meaning he could accidentally knock over younger children. A home without small children would be the safest and most suitable environment for him.
My suitability to other cats or dogs:
Sanchez is a friendly boy who can get along well with other dogs. At just two years old, he can be a little overenthusiastic when meeting new friends, but he plays beautifully with dogs of a similar size in an enclosed environment. His new family will need to continue working with him on polite greetings and helping him learn to remain calm and ignore other dogs while out walking. A suitable canine companion may be possible following a successful meet and greet. Sanchez has not yet been tested with cats.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
