What Ted is looking for:
– Ted is looking for a calm, stable home where his people are around and he can be part of everyday life.
– He would thrive with someone who understands that he is a sensitive dog who needs time to warm up to new people and dogs, rather than expecting him to immediately be comfortable.
His ideal home would:
• Have someone around the home more often than not
• Allow Ted to spend lots of time inside with his people
• Be calm and stable, without lots of change or disruption
• Have limited unfamiliar people coming and going
• Understand that he can be nervous around some men, particularly tradespeople
• Give him time and space to warm up to new people
• Introduce him slowly and respectfully to other dogs
• Not have chickens or other small farm animals
• Ideally not have a pool
• Be prepared to continue managing his anxiety and arthritis
• Understand that he may bark if left alone for extended periods or if there are lots of unfamiliar people or tradespeople coming and going
Meet Ted, an exceptionally endearing 10-year-old Kelpie who is looking for a calm and loving new family to call his own. Ted brings a gentle spirit and a heart full of love, but he needs someone who understands and respects his sensitive nature. We know that Ted will make a loyal and devoted companion to just the right person or family.
Ted thrives in a calm, stable environment where he can be an integral part of everyday life. He seeks a home where his people are around often, and where he can indulge in spending time inside the house with his beloved family. He bonds quickly with children, and his gentle demeanor makes him an ideal family pet.
Ted is a dog who loves familiarity and routine. Sudden changes or lots of unfamiliar visitors can unsettle him. That's why he will flourish in a home where introductions to new people or dogs are done slowly and respectfully. Ted is selective with his canine companions and takes some time to warm up to new faces, so a slow introduction process will help him feel comfortable.
When it comes to his living space, Ted appreciates not needing super high or secure fencing. While he doesn't require an excessively guarded environment, a household without chickens or small farm animals would be an ideal fit. He's not thrilled about having a pool nearby, and it would be best for his safety and peace of mind to adhere to this preference.
Ted benefits from attentive care when it comes to managing his mild anxiety and arthritis. He may let out the occasional bark if left alone for long periods or if too many strangers are around, but this is easily managed with reassuring companionship.
Ted’s adoption fee is $395 and he is fully vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, and wormed. If you think you've got the perfect environment for Ted to thrive in, filled with love, stability, and an understanding heart to embrace his endearing quirks, then Ted is ready to become your lifelong companion. He's waiting with a wagging tail in Carrara, QLD, eager to be part of your family.

Here are some quick tips to make your APPLICATION stand out:
Include as many details as you can about your lifestyle, family, accommodation, and work. Here’s some first-hand feedback from our member rescue organisations about what they'd like to see in your applications:
🐱 Why would this animal suit your home? (This lets them know that you've read the pet’s bio and considered their personality vs. your lifestyle)
🐾 Details about your family
🏡 Is your home quiet/relaxed or loud/busy? (Particularly important for timid cats). Ask questions, to show your are interested in the animals ell being.
Add questions into the application.
Fill out the profiles of your current pets if you have any. Understanding the personality of resident cats and dogs will help rescue organisations or foster carers determine if the pet will adjust to your surroundings.
Remember to be respectful and kind in your enquiries. A simple greeting can go a long way! Behind that screen is a real hooman, who loves and cares for the pet you're enquiring about just as much as you will!
Be open and honest - rescues prefer having as much information as they can about potential adopters.
An adoption fee applies to each animal to cover only the basic veterinary procedures, and each adoption goes out on a 21 day settling in period, if the dog is returned in this period, and you’ve spoken to our trainer for assistance, and the dog is returned in good health, mentally and physically, and all their belongings and paperwork are returned, then we provide a refund less $50 admin fee (per dog) . This is not a trial, but in case of any unknown or unforeseen circumstances.
