Meet River!

River is a stunning 9 month old German Shepherd mix who is ready to bring plenty of fun, affection and puppy energy into his forever home.

This sweet boy loves being around his people and thrives on companionship. True to his breed, River is intelligent, playful and eager to learn. He already knows some basic commands and will thrive with continued guidance and positive reinforcement. He'll make a wonderful companion for someone who is excited to spend quality time with their dog and build a strong, trusting and loyal bond.

As a young dog, River is still learning his manners and can be a little jumpy when excited. For this reason, he is looking for a home where everyone is secondary school aged or older and comfortable and confident around dogs. River would also like to be the only dog in the household, but would benefit from group training classes where he can work on his socialisation with other dogs.

River has been finding the shelter environment quite stressful and is at risk of ongoing anxiety. He will thrive with adopters who are committed to ongoing, force-free training and helping him develop his impulse control, confidence and skills. With patience, consistency and plenty of positive reinforcement, this clever young boy has all the potential to become an amazing lifelong companion.
