About Star
From timid beginnings to loving cuddles
Star is a sweet young girl who is just beginning to discover the joys of being a loved pet in her foster home. She can be calm and a little timid at first, but as her confidence grows, her affectionate side starts to shine. Once she feels safe, Star becomes a lovely, cuddly companion who enjoys being close to her people.
Star loves her walks and is easy to manage on lead. She does not pull much and is happy with a couple of 30 minute walks each day. She is not reactive around other dogs, but she can feel nervous if an overexcited dog rushes up to her. In foster care, she lives with a German Shepherd and has been learning to socialise with other medium and large dogs.
At home, Star is doing very well. She is toilet trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and has learned how to use the stairs. As she becomes more confident, her playful side comes out too. She is even starting to learn how much fun it can be to chase a ball. Star travels well in the car and is learning to jump into an SUV. She is also very food motivated and happily eats all her meals, which will help with her ongoing training.
Star would suit a patient and kind home, ideally in a quiet suburb, that can give her time to settle, build confidence, and continue learning about pet life. Her sister Maggie (just arriving in another foster home) is also available for adoption. While they can go as solo dogs, just in case you are looking to adopt two greyhounds.
Star is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.

Adoption details
Our greyhounds live in foster homes until they find their adoption home. This introduces them to pet life, toilet-training and they learn how to behave inside the home as well as all the new experiences they get on their daily walks. Many spend time in a home with another dog, children and a few sometimes with a cat.
As a safety net for greyhounds who may not otherwise have a chance at finding a forever home, we do our very best to find the right home to match our greyhounds' needs. If you are interested in Greyhound Adoption or Greyhound Fostering, please complete our On-line Application to help us understand more about you and recommend whether the dog you are applying for matches your lifestyle.
