About Houdini
Introducing Houdini!
Houdini is a Lhasa Apso x born 1st January 2025.
This gorgeous boy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray. Sadly this boy was completely infested with fleas and the fur on his back and tail area are very matted. Thankfully Houdini's owner did come forward, so we were able to know his name, age, breed and more about his personality. When we voiced our concerns about the condition Houdini was found in, his owners admitted they weren't in a position to give him the care he so desperately needed & decided the best thing he could do was to find him a new home.
Houdini's surrender profile states he is an inside & outside dog, he is toilet trained, travels well in the car & shows no signs of food aggression. He is friendly with children, adult strangers, dogs & cats.
Since being at the facility Houdini has been a delight to care for. He's incredibly affectionate and very human focused. He knows how to 'sit' & 'shake'. He loves a cuddle, a back scratch and is just an all-round sweet kid.
Houdini tested well with other dogs. While we only have smaller, male dogs to test with, he was very excited to meet them all & was very happy during their meets. We believe Houdini could be suitable to live with another dog or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Houdini appeared non-reactive with our facility cat & roosters. We believe he could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow and controlled introduction to them.
Houdini has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Houdini would love to be adopted to a home where he is included in your daily activities and is treated as a cherished member of the family.

Houdini's adoption fee is $950, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Houdini is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Houdini is currently located in East Maitland.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
