Meet Tyson – Our Big, Lovable Goofball 🐾💙
At just 11 months old, Tyson is a big, handsome German Shepherd with an even bigger personality. He is affectionate, playful, goofy and still very much a puppy at heart – just in a rather large body!
Tyson is one of those dogs who makes you smile. He loves being around his people, enjoys attention and has a fun-loving personality that is hard not to fall for. Sometimes he forgets just how big he is, but that is all part of Tyson’s goofy charm.
He is toilet trained and is learning the everyday manners expected of a young German Shepherd. At 11 months, Tyson still loves to chew and play with his toys, which provides him with great mental stimulation and helps keep that busy young mind occupied.
One of Tyson’s lovely qualities is how social he is with other dogs his own size. He enjoys their company and is continuing to learn how to be respectful, read their cues and show good manners during his interactions. With appropriate introductions and continued guidance, his social skills are developing beautifully.
Tyson also really enjoys his free walks. Despite having the freedom to explore, he naturally chooses to stay close to his person and regularly comes back to check in with you. It is a lovely quality in such a young dog and shows just how much he enjoys that connection with his handler.
Tyson would thrive with a family who enjoys interacting with their dog and will continue his training. He responds well to calm, consistent guidance and will benefit from clear boundaries, regular exercise, enrichment and plenty of opportunities to use his brain.
He definitely isn't looking for a life where he is left alone in the backyard. Tyson wants to be part of the family – following you around, joining in with daily life, heading out on adventures and then settling down with his humans afterwards.
Because Tyson is a big, enthusiastic youngster, we are looking for someone with German Shepherd or large-breed experience who understands that adolescence is a time for patience, consistency and continued training.
Tyson will need a home without small dogs, cats or pocket pets.
What Tyson needs most is someone who can look past his size and see the big-hearted, slightly silly young dog underneath. Give him structure, companionship, training and love, and we believe Tyson will reward you with enormous loyalty, affection and plenty of laughs along the way.

Tyson is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back to Willow Tree or helping us rehome him from your home.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
Post Adoption Life: With all dog it is important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these dogs have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours and reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to three months to properly decompress from post-shelter life and a lot of behaviours and quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind and are patient.
