About Dot
🚨 FOSTER TO ADOPT - PLEASE READ🚨
Name - Dot
Breed – Greyhound x
Sex - F
Age – 2-3 years is our best guess
Weight – approx. 29kg
Vet work- Desexed, vaccinated, flea and worm treated
Dot has tested positive for heartworm
The good news? It’s treatable. It’s not contagious. And the rescue will cover the cost of her treatment.
What Dot needs now is someone willing to stand by her through it. Someone to give her a safe place to rest, recover, and feel loved while she heals.
She doesn’t need saving from heartworm; the vets will do that. She needs saving from having to face it alone.
She would be fostered and once her treatment is complete, we would finalise the adoption
During parts of her treatment there will be times when she needs to take it easy and stay relatively quiet after certain injections. It does take commitment.
Dot is an incredibly gentle soul, and we have no doubt she is going to make the most amazing companion. She has been slowly coming out of her shell and isn’t quite the wall flower she was on arrival.
She is currently living with children and has been wonderful with them.
Dot loves spending time outside, relaxing on her bed (or the outside armchair when the option is given!) and taking in the world around her. But she is also discovering the joys of becoming an inside dog — sleeping close to her people and learning what it feels like to be truly cherished.
When Dot first headed off to her foster home, she needed a little encouragement to get into the car. With patience, consistency and reassurance from her foster family, she has settled in beautifully.
She has also met another friendly family dog, and we are thrilled to report that they made fast friends — so much so that Dot did her first zoomies!
Although she was initially a little timid, after a good sniff around, playtime was on! And when she needed a rest, Dot simply took herself off for a little lie down on the deck before returning when it was time for more fun.
She hasn't been a barker and is quite content to simply watch the neighbouring dogs through the fence although may sook a little when her people first leave the house because surely Dot should be invited on every outing!
If you are looking for a gentle, easy-going, low-maintenance companion who is happy to enjoy the simple things in life, then look no further.
Medical notes
Dot is heartworm positive. Her treatment will be covered by the rescue and her adoption finalised after her treatment is complete
