🐾 Meet Peaches – A Little British Bulldog With a Very Big Heart 🐾
If you've ever had the pleasure of knowing a British Bulldog, you'll know they are a special combination of big personality, questionable life choices, snorts, stubbornness, cuddles and the ability to make themselves completely at home wherever they happen to be. Peaches is no exception. 😂❤️
Peaches is a beautiful 2 years and 1 month old British Bulldog who came into care after her breeder downsized. Paw Prints Canine Rescue has completed all of her veterinary work and she is now ready to find the family who will give her the patience, understanding and love she deserves.
This gorgeous girl is incredibly sweet and affectionate and absolutely loves her people. Peaches is happiest when she is close to her favourite human and has absolutely no understanding of the concept of personal space. She will follow you around the house, stand beside you with her face pressed against your leg or simply lean her entire body against you because apparently touching her human is an important part of the Bulldog lifestyle.
If you're sitting down, she will probably be sitting with you.
If you're on the couch, she will probably be leaning against you.
And if you're doing absolutely nothing at all, Peaches will be more than happy to supervise. 😂
She is quite a laid-back girl once she has completed her morning burst of madness. For about 15 minutes each morning she is fast and furious, and then she remembers she is a Bulldog and settles into couch-potato mode for the rest of the day.
She is also wonderfully quiet and rarely barks, which is probably just as well because she has plenty of other ways to make her presence known!
Peaches has a particularly adorable relationship with her soft toys. She has a little ice-cream stuffie that she loves to suck on while she naps on the couch, and watching this big, solid Bulldog snuggling up with her tiny toy is enough to make anyone smile. ❤️
She absolutely loves children and has been around everyone from 2 year olds through to teenagers. She is gentle and loving with them and would make a beautiful family companion.
Peaches has also been cat tested and has been incredibly respectful. In fact, Peaches loves the cat, although the feeling isn't entirely mutual! 😂 The cat can hiss or swipe at her from above and Peaches simply doesn't care. She doesn't chase the cat and is happy to have a little sniff before going about her business. She has also watched chickens through their enclosure without showing any reaction, although she has never been loose around them.
Peaches would prefer to be the only dog in her forever home, where she can enjoy all the human attention and cuddles for herself.
There is, however, something very important her future family needs to understand about Peaches, and that is her nervousness around men.
Peaches is a very affectionate girl, but around men she can be extremely unsure. She has gradually learnt to trust her foster carer's husband because he has been patient, calm and respectful of her. He has allowed her to approach him in her own time rather than expecting her to immediately accept him, and that patience has allowed a lovely relationship to develop.
She has never warmed to her foster carer's dad, who has been more dismissive of her. As a result, she can bark and growl when he comes home or enters the room she is in, and this can happen several times throughout the day.
This behaviour has only been seen with men and has never been directed towards women or children.
Peaches therefore needs a family who understands that she cannot simply be expected to trust every man she meets. The men in her life will need to be patient and allow her to decide when she is ready to interact. She needs gentle encouragement, not pressure.
Peaches also has a sensitive side when it comes to unexpected things. Move something that wasn't previously there and she may decide the world has ended. 😂 A wheelbarrow appearing in her usual toileting area was enough to frighten her, while loud noises or something unexpectedly falling can also make her panic.
When frightened, Peaches may try to take off or hide and sometimes bark or growl. She has come a huge way with this, though, and when everyone remains calm and simply carries on as normal, she generally settles again very quickly.
She doesn't need someone to make a big fuss when she is worried. She needs someone who calmly says, in Bulldog language, “Nothing to see here, sweetheart,” and gives her the confidence to work it out.
Around the home, Peaches is toilet trained and has lovely indoor manners. She isn't crate trained and doesn't currently use a doggy door, although she could learn with some patience.
She enjoys going for walks but is much happier with a quiet stroll rather than a busy outing. Her current walks are along a very quiet street and unexpected sounds can frighten her. She doesn't pull on the lead, although she does like to change sides approximately one million times and isn't impressed if her lead gets shortened. 😂
She is not looking for a family who wants to conquer the world with their dog. Peaches is much more interested in a gentle stroll, coming home, finding the couch, grabbing her ice-cream toy and settling beside her favourite human.
And really, can you blame her?
She is a Bulldog after all. ❤️
Peaches will need regular brushing and nail care but doesn't require anything complicated when it comes to grooming.
What makes Peaches so special is the combination of her big Bulldog personality and her sensitive little heart. She is affectionate, funny, cuddly and incredibly sweet, but she needs people who will take the time to understand her fears and allow her confidence to grow.
Her nervousness around men is particularly important and cannot be overlooked. Her forever family will need to be patient and understand that trust is something Peaches needs to build rather than something that can be demanded from her.
Once she feels safe, though, Peaches has an awful lot of love to give.
She'll follow you around.
She'll lean against your legs.
She'll steal the couch.
She'll cuddle her ice-cream toy.
And she'll probably make sure that wherever you are, she is approximately two centimeters away from you. 😂❤️
Peaches isn't looking for a complicated life. She wants a loving family, a quiet and secure home, someone who understands her sensitive nature, plenty of cuddles and a couch she can happily claim as her own.
She's a big, beautiful Bulldog with a soft heart, a slightly dramatic reaction to wheelbarrows and an impressive commitment to personal contact.
And for the family willing to give her the patience she needs, Peaches could be one very special little girl. ❤️🐾

- Your dog can travel to the carers location

Adoption details
Paw Prints Canine Rescue is a non for profit dog rescue located in Southeast Queensland.
All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.

AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
