I need a friend!
Lenny is an affectionate 8 YO, with a warm and affectionate interaction with his humans. He is a true people-lover. He is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and absolutely adores human company. He will follow his person from room to room, “chat” with you throughout the day and give you the best head boops. Lenny loves a chin scratch and will reward the extra attention with loud, rumbling purrs.
He absolutely loves people; however, he really blossoms when he has a calm, mature, mellow cat friend around.
Prior to being surrendered to VicDRG, Lenny had spent all his life with a bonded friend and at 7 YO they were separated and Lenny was adopted as a solo cat. Lenny then became anxious and behaviourists believe it is because he is lonely for a feline friend. His family cannot have another cat and therefore have surrendered Lenny.
Due to his anxious nature Lenny is sometimes troubled by Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), which means he struggles to urinate when he is stressed. This is simply treated with a dose of anti-inflammatory drugs. Best we get him a friend to help build his confidence again and stop his anxiety.
Lenny is not interested in high-energy kittens or young cats, he wants a like-minded, laid-back buddy to nap with, to keep each other company, and just enjoy a peaceful feline life together.
Generally, an indoor cat, Lenny does love supervised outdoor time on a lead and harness so that he can chill out in the sun and munch on grass. He has also spent time in a cat safe enclosure which he enjoyed.
Lenny will thrive best in a quiet, predictable, adult-only home with no young children. He needs a calm, stable environment to feel secure. Once Lenny has a chance to settle into his new home and get used to his new feline friend, his cheeky, playful and incredibly loving personality will begin to shine through, and you will be rewarded with a truly gorgeous addition to your family.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
