About Rusty - 12 Week Old Cattle Dog
💕 Sweet, Cuddly & Full of Love
Meet Rusty – a gorgeous little red Cattle Dog boy with the sweetest nature, the cutest round puppy belly and a whole lot of love to give!
At just 12 weeks old, Rusty is still discovering the world, but his beautiful personality is already starting to shine through. He was a little reserved when he first arrived, but it hasn’t taken him long to settle in. Every day he is becoming more confident, playful and comfortable, and we’re getting to see more and more of his lovely little personality.
Rusty is a true little shadow who loves being close to his people and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of whatever you’re doing. And when the day winds down, Rusty is very happy to trade his puppy antics for cuddles. 🥰
He is affectionate, people-focused and loves being included in family life.
🐕 Doggy Social Butterfly
Rusty’s absolute favourite thing is playing with his doggy foster siblings!
He loves a good romp around the backyard, chasing toys, playing with his little ball and trying his very best to keep up with the much bigger dogs.
He’s being socialised with both puppies and adult dogs. Despite being a playful little puppy, he has lovely manners with other dogs. He watches their cues, knows when to give them space and doesn’t continually pester them when they’ve had enough.
Even better, Rusty is learning lots of good habits from his older foster siblings. He’s a clever little boy who watches what the other dogs do and takes his cues from them, quickly learning the routines and expectations of the household.
He is happiest when he’s part of the pack, so having another friendly, patient and well-mannered dog in his forever home would be a wonderful bonus for him – someone to be his teacher, companion and playmate as he grows.
🧠 Clever Little Cattle Dog
Rusty is proving to be a very clever little boy. He’s curious, confident and eager to explore his world, and he is picking up new things surprisingly quickly.
He’s already learning to walk on lead and is doing really well with his toilet training, although, as you’d expect from a 12-week-old puppy, he still has the occasional little accident.
His crate training is also coming along nicely. His crate is becoming a safe and comfortable little space for him, and he is sleeping most of the night, currently only needing one overnight toilet break.
He also has beautiful manners around his food.
Rusty’s training journey is only just beginning, but he’s showing us that he is an engaged and enthusiastic little learner. Puppy-training classes and plenty of positive reinforcement will give this clever boy a wonderful foundation for life.
As he grows, Rusty will need a family who understands that a clever Cattle Dog needs more than just a backyard. Training, enrichment, play, adventures and plenty of time with his people will help this gorgeous boy grow into the happy, confident and well-balanced dog he’s destined to be.
Families with kids older than 8, please.
Rusty loves having his people around. He enjoys being part of the household and is happiest when he can see what his people are doing.
We are working on building independence although he is still a baby, and isn’t quite ready to be a stay-at-home-alone champion just yet. His ideal family will be one where someone is home a good portion of the time, or where he has a friendly canine companion to keep him company.
Rusty is looking for a home where he can truly be part of the family, rather than spending long days by himself.
✨ A Little Red Bundle of Joy
Rusty is equal parts cuddly, playful, curious and cheeky. He’ll make you laugh with his puppy antics, melt your heart when he curls up beside you, and keep you entertained as he discovers the big wide world on those four little paws.
Rusty is looking for a loving family with the time, patience and energy to help him grow – ideally with another friendly dog to be his companion, teacher and playmate, and a human who doesn’t mind having a little shadow following them around the house.
In return, this gorgeous little red boy will bring a lifetime of love, laughter, loyalty and adventure. ❤️🐾
Rusty is waiting to melt your heart and become your very best mate.
Rusty will grow into a medium-sized dog.
We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, enrichment and training.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly and patient adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Rusty. If you don’t have another dog to keep him company, then there should be someone in the household who doesn’t work full-time.
Rusty needs to be welcomed inside when people are home and to sleep inside. He will be a wonderful family dog and best mate!
