The first most noticeable thing about Bellmere is that she has no nose and that's because she has had a Squamous Cell Cancer journey and come out on top.

Bellmere is one legendary cat, hands down the best with the saddest back story it would make you weep and furious at the same time. I like to think it has shaped her into one tough mama.

Bellmere comes from the 'Eidsvold farm project', a colony of cats who were fed and supported for 2 generations, at least 30 years with regular shooting for the kids fun and population control. They were selling up and moving and all the cats had to go or be shot and I was called in. We managed to trap 33 cats in the limited time. I do still wonder if any are around with the new owners.

Bellemere was spared from the shooting because she's a nice cat and they considered her a grandma, but her age is something to be questioned. From the 33 cats, 11 have died from all sorts of issues and when Bellmere's biopsy came back no way we were making it 12 casualties.

We have named the cats after characters from the anime 'One Piece' and if anyone is familiar with that anime you might know how special the name Bellmere is.

Bellmere's daughter Nojiko was pregnant and gave birth to 6 babies, but she was fretting quite badly so we put good old experienced grandma Bellemere in with her for emotional support. It worked well, however tragically 5 of the kittens passed in the first few days due to congenital problems and the final kitten unsinkable Sam about a month later due to heart failure. Atleast the 2 mums had each other to snuggle with.

Bellmere has had a tough couple months from a biopsy to a nose removal and eye brow removal and then a trip to Brisbane to freeze the cancer off her chin and increase the margins around her nose. Something like $4.5k, but hey she's gotta make up for the 11 dead in her expenses quota and she deserved to live.

She is finally finished healing and yes we have the cancer margins. Will it come back? I hope not, but probably not. She needs to be loved every day of her life and given quality time just in case.

In terms of personality Bellmere is quiet and shy, however she is food motivated and happy about it. She loved her trip to Brisbane and happily explored the motel and was even smoochy and purring. It was a bit special. She came up and slept on the bed and everything.

Bellmere will do fine with someone who loves her and is patient. She will really blossom into her self with undivided attention, but maybe no loud noisey kids.

She is currently located in Monto and we have transport around QLD, but in the very near future she will be travelling up to a semi permanent foster carer near the Gold coast to wait for a home in love and luxury if she is not already adopted before then.

Bellmere comes desexed, vaccinated twice, microchipped, fiv/felv tested, parasite treated and has good blood work.

She must have a strictly indoor only home and be kept put of the sun as its a big cause for the type of Squamous cell cancer she had.
