Meet Tyke — a truly tiny little fellow with a name that suits him perfectly.
At just 880 grams on 2 September, Tyke is an exceptionally petite Chihuahua pup, but there is already plenty of personality packed into that very small package. With his creamy coat, enormous dark eyes and sweet little face, he has the sort of looks that make it very difficult to walk past without scooping him up.
Tyke will be eight weeks old on 14 September and ready to begin life with his new family. As with any Chihuahua puppy — and particularly one as tiny as Tyke — his new home will need to understand that small dogs require a little extra care. He may be pint-sized, but he still needs all the things every puppy deserves: good nutrition, gentle training, socialisation, companionship and the chance to grow into a confident, well-adjusted little dog.
Because of his very small size, we would particularly like a home where people understand the need to handle him very carefully and supervise his interactions with other dogs and young children. Tiny puppies can be surprisingly adventurous without having any idea just how little they are!
Tyke is being adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program, which means his desexing will be carried out when he is old enough, in accordance with his adoption contract.
He may be one of the smaller puppies we’ve had through ARK, but we suspect Tyke will take up a very large amount of room in somebody’s heart. 💛🐾

2 September - Tyke was health-checked, received his first C3 vaccination, and was microchipped and wormed.
Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
