About Spot
This gorgeous boy was born and grew up in a remote community in the Northern Territory. Unfortunately his community was affected by a severe flood earlier this year and evacuated for three months. During that time the Animal Welfare team evacuated all the dogs, including Spot and his mates, to an outstation on higher ground, flying in frequently to feed and care for them.
When the community re-opened the dogs were brought back, but Spot’s family did not return, so Spot and his crew were taken in and cared for by a local lady. Unfortunately on cracker night they became scared and ran off. The next morning they all returned with injuries, but Spot’s were the most devastating. One of his front legs had a compound fracture. At this point Spot was surrendered to us for treatment, care and rehabilitation.
His vet tried to save his leg with a plate but the operation failed and his leg had to be amputated. He was lonely in hospital with no dogs to play with but the clinic cats were dog friendly and he was able to have gentle games with them. He was so happy to get back home and he’s got his mojo back now. It’s great to see him running around, wrestling with his doggy mates and cuddling up so sweetly.
Spot loves his off lead runs, hooning around in the yard with the other dogs and playing with his chew toys. Being so sociable you could take Spot anywhere with confidence in his lovely manners and gentle ways. He loves the beach and a splash in the water, but loves the bush as well. He will go off exploring but keeps an eye out and comes back like a good boy.
Our wish for Spot is that his hard days are over, that his perfect home is waiting for him, and that his future is full of love and comfort.
Medical notes
Since Spot has only three legs now, his weight to be carefully managed so that that he is strong and healthy, but not carrying any extra weight. This will help to minimise the stress on his one remaining front leg, and enable him to continue to mobilise with ease.

Adoption details
We request that prospective adopters email us with an initial enquiry. We will forward an application form. On receipt of the application form, we will make phone contact to discuss the adoption. We try hard to match the dog to the person, ultimately looking for the best fit for the dog. Shipping fees are included in the adoption fee. We ship from Alice Springs airport to interstate homes.
