Meet Luna, better known to everyone who loves her as Chicken - a soft, silver-grey tabby girl with big round eyes, delicate white whiskers, and the kindest little face you could imagine. At seven years old, Chicken has already lived a full chapter of life, and now she’s ready for the quiet, loving home she truly deserves.

Chicken was recently surrendered into care after her previous busy household, filled with the constant energy of toddlers, left her feeling overwhelmed and stressed. The noise, the sudden movements, and the unpredictable chaos simply weren’t the right fit for this sensitive soul.

When she first arrived in her foster home she spent the first day looking a little grumpy and uncertain, keeping to herself and carefully watching the world from a safe distance. But it didn’t take long for her true personality to shine through.

Once she realised she was finally safe, Chicken transformed. She quickly found her confidence and now cannot get enough of her foster mum. She follows her from room to room, weaves between her legs, climbs into her lap the moment she sits down, and presses her soft face against any available hand for endless cuddles. Her purr is loud and steady - like a little engine that never wants to switch off.

Chicken is one of the most affectionate cats you could hope to meet. She is a proper smoochy companion who thrives on gentle human contact and will happily spend hours curled up beside you, kneading, nuzzling, and soaking up every bit of love you offer.

Her nickname “Chicken” comes from a very endearing (and slightly dramatic) side of her personality. Chicken does not like loud noises. Thunderstorms, in particular, send her scurrying under the bed where she will stay until the rumbling stops and the world feels calm again. That nervous little dash for cover is exactly how the affectionate nickname stuck. And it has become a term of endearment used with a smile by everyone who knows her.

Beyond storms, she is also unsettled by sudden loud sounds or the high energy of young children, so a peaceful adult-only (or older, quiet household) environment is essential for her to feel truly secure.

In the right home, Chicken blossoms into the most devoted and loving companion. She is not a cat who merely tolerates affection, she actively seeks it out, rubs against you with pure joy, and rewards every soft word and gentle stroke with that famous engine-like purr.

About Us

Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.

Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.

Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.

As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.

All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.

Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
