Meet sweet Murgatroyd, who is ready to meet her forever people..

Murgatroyd came from a rural pound so we have little information about her background. She is nervous and avoidant of men initially, although slowly improving. She is a very sweet and affectionate girl towards her foster mum, following her around the house like a quiet shadow. She can be a little bit cheeky and tries to check out what's on the kitchen bench (as her nose is at the right height for investigation), but she is a well-mannered young lady (mostly).

Murgatroyd is sharing her foster home with a small female terrier. They are friendly together, doing zoomies in the backyard, sharing walks and sleeping in separate beds in their foster mum's bedroom. She has also been fine with two large boisterous young male dogs who she's shared her foster home with, and seems to enjoy the rough play and chasing with them. However, Murgatroyd has shown fear towards dogs and strangers away from the home, and her foster mum has been taking her on walks to boost her confidence. Information shared by the pound said that she was attacked when younger by a bigger dog. She is also sharing her foster home with two cats. She is mostly separated from them by baby gates, but when she has been in the same space as them she has shown no reactivity and even gently touched noses! She is house trained and was taught to toilet on a puppy training pad (with fake grass) prior to coming in to rescue.

Murgatroyd has been left outside at home on her own (for 13 hours) on the days when her foster mum works, and has done okay. However, she has been known to chew on branches of plants or pieces of wood when left for those long periods. She would probably prefer a home where she is only left for shorter periods, and perhaps indoors (with outdoor access or puppy mat) rather than outside.

Murgatroyd is a big, gentle girl who has so much love to give her forever family. Due to her nervousness around men she is likely to be most comfortable in a female-only household, or with a female and male if he is patient and willing to gain her trust at her own pace. When a couple came to adopt one of the male foster dogs she was nervous of the male partner but also approached him cautiously for pats. She would probably find the noise and sudden movements of young children too frightening, so would be best in an adult-only home or with teenagers and above.

Although she seems to enjoy walks she is still quite frightened of unfamiliar people and dogs, so her foster mum feels she could also be happy in a home with a good-sized yard and perhaps a doggy playmate to burn off some energy. She is more than happy to relax on the couch most of the time, with occasional outings to the backyard. She will make the most wonderful companion for someone who is looking for a calm, gentle friend who loves to be around her people. Can you be that person or family?
