Caesar may be small, but this little guy arrived in WA with a BIG personality! Of his nine siblings, Caesar is currently showing some of the strongest dingo-like behaviours, and he is looking for a very special, experienced home that understands him.

Caesar and his eight siblings have travelled all the way from NSW. The entire family had originally been taken in to be euthanised, but thankfully a wonderful lady stepped in and saved them before contacting us for help. After the huge logistical effort of getting eight puppies across the country, they are finally safe in WA and ready to find their forever families.

After stepping off the plane, Caesar was absolutely terrified. He tucked himself as far into the back of his crate as he could and, when approached, made it VERY clear that he wanted space. When Caesar feels frightened or cornered, he can respond defensively by growling, snarling and attempting to bite.

For Caesar, these behaviours come from fear and uncertainty, and underneath all that spice is a puppy who is still learning that people can be safe.

In fact, the difference we saw in Caesar after just one day was incredible. Once he had time to decompress and get to know his carers, he was already becoming more confident, affectionate and comfortable with human interaction. As his trust grows, we are beginning to see the sweet little puppy hiding underneath that tough exterior.

Caesar’s mum is a typical dingo, while dad is a camp dog (dingo cross) who displays considerably more domestic-dog behaviour — including coming when called, even while out at the beach! Their puppies seem to have inherited varying combinations of traits from both parents, and Caesar appears to have received a particularly generous helping of mum’s dingo nature.

Because of this, Caesar is not suitable for a first-time or inexperienced home.

He needs a calm, patient and preferably dingo-experienced adopter who understands dingo behaviour and fear-based defensive responses. His new family will need to continue building his confidence through positive experiences and socialisation while respecting his boundaries and allowing him to develop trust at his own pace.

Secure, dingo-appropriate containment will be required, and a home without small pets is preferred due to the potential for prey drive as he matures.

Caesar isn’t going to be the right puppy for everyone — and that’s okay. We’re not looking for just any home for him; we’re looking for the right one.

For someone with the experience, patience and understanding to earn his trust, Caesar has the potential to form an incredibly special bond. He’s already shown us just how much personality and affection is waiting underneath that spicy little exterior. 🌶️🧡
