Hi! I’m Gidget, a one-year-old Australian Terrier x, and I’m a whole 7.5kg of scruffy, affectionate, slightly spring-loaded personality. ❤️

The first thing you need to know about me is that I’m only one. I’m still a very young dog, so while I’ve got some great foundations, I’m still learning my manners and figuring out exactly how this whole being-a-grown-up-dog thing works.

I absolutely love people. Since coming into foster care, I’ve been well socialised and have shown that I really enjoy human company. I love my house, I love being with my people, and once the excitement is over, I’m very happy to curl up on your lap and soak up the attention.

Even better, I’m fully house trained. 🏡

I came into care having had some training, but it was fairly limited. It turns out I’m actually a pretty clever little thing! I already know sit, down and roll over, and I’m more than capable of learning plenty more with someone willing to put the time into me.

I’m also dog friendly and have been living with a much larger dog in foster care. His size certainly doesn’t worry me! I could potentially live with another suitable dog in my new home.

I’ve been around cats as well. I can be a bit of a pest and sometimes need reminding that the cats don’t necessarily want to participate in whatever activity I have planned for them. 😂 A home with a cat may be possible, but you’ll need to be prepared to supervise us and continue teaching me to respect their space.

Now, about my manners…

I have springs for legs. 🚀

I can jump ridiculously high. In fact, despite weighing just 7.5kg, I can launch myself high enough to reach your face. It’s impressive, but apparently my foster carers don’t consider it an essential life skill. So learning to keep four paws on the ground is still on my training list!

And because I’m a little terrier with some opinions, I can also be a bit barky at times. I like to let you know what’s happening! Again, I’m only one, and with consistent boundaries and continued training, there’s plenty of opportunity to work on this.

What you’re getting with me isn’t a perfectly polished little dog who has finished learning. You’re getting a very young dog with some great foundations and a whole lot of potential.

I’m house trained.
I’m dog friendly.
I know sit, down and roll over.
I love people.
I love being inside with my family.
I’m happy cuddled up on a lap.
And I’m only one year old, with plenty more still to learn.

If you’re prepared to continue my training, give me clear and consistent boundaries and make me part of your family, I think I have everything I need to become a pretty fantastic little companion.
