About Sayang
Sayang might be hiding away right now, but give this handsome ginger boy a little time and you may be surprised by who starts to emerge.
Life at the shelter has clearly been overwhelming for Sayang. Found as a stray with no identification, he arrived without us knowing anything about the life he had before. Right now, his instinct is often to curl himself up and keep to himself, and when he's unsure, he may initially pull away from touch. But Sayang has already shown us that there is a much softer side waiting underneath all that uncertainty.
With a little time and a gentle approach, something changes. Sayang starts accepting treats, the purrs begin, and suddenly the boy who seemed unsure about being touched is getting up to headbutt your hand, leaning into scratches and even rolling over for more. These little moments tell us so much. He isn't a cat who needs to be rushed or pushed. He just needs the chance to realise that he's safe.
We think Sayang will appreciate a calm home where he can decompress at his own pace, with someone patient enough to let him make the first moves. Food is already a great way to build his trust, and once he starts feeling comfortable, we've seen just how sweet this lovely boy can be. The shelter simply isn't where Sayang is at his best, and we'd love to see what that personality looks like once he finally has somewhere quiet to call home.
Sayang is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Sayang - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
