Meet Tommy,
Tommy is a big, fluffy gentleman who believes there are very few problems in life that can't be solved with a good head scratch, a proper brushing and a nice long snooze.
He can be a little unsure when meeting someone new, but a few well-placed head scratches are usually enough to start negotiations. Give Tommy some time to decide you're trustworthy and you'll soon discover that underneath all that magnificent fluff is a big love bug. Once comfortable, he'll happily roll around showing off just how cute he is — as though anyone needed convincing.
Tommy loves affection, particularly around his head and cheeks, but the real way to his heart is through a brush. Bring one out and suddenly this otherwise fairly independent boy is ready for his full spa treatment. He'll roll over, show off his belly and happily let you brush away. With a coat like his, regular grooming will need to continue in his new home, so Tommy is looking for someone willing to help maintain his rather impressive wardrobe.
He can be picked up when needed, although he's currently a little unsure about it. Being a bigger boy, making sure he feels properly supported and secure when handled will help keep things comfortable for everyone.
Toys don't particularly impress Tommy, though we have a sneaking suspicion that he likes to play when no one is watching. Regarding breakfast — he'll finish his meal promptly so he can return to the much more important business of cuddling up and snoozing. Treats are acceptable, although he's more interested once he feels comfortable with you.
His extra fluff also comes with some extra bathroom real estate. Tommy uses his litter tray reliably, but needs a larger tray to comfortably accommodate all of him. Once properly equipped, he's a clean and tidy gentleman.
A quieter home would suit Tommy beautifully, particularly with someone who understands that he'll need a little time to warm up to new people. Give him patience, plenty of comfortable sleeping spots and keep that brush handy, and you'll have one very affectionate feline on your hands.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
