About Spike
Hello, I'm Spike.
Let's just say I'm having a bit of a moment.
I'm currently more of a "quietly observing from the shadows" sort of gentleman, and I'm not quite ready to hand out cuddles to just anyone. I came into care as a stray, and no one came forward for me, so I'm still figuring out how this whole trusting-people thing works.
I've also recently had a rather unfortunate haircut. I'm a long-haired boy underneath it all, but when you've been carrying around some serious mats, sometimes drastic measures are required. I'd like to think I'm simply taking some time to recover from the indignity.
I'm part of the scared cat program, which means I'm looking for someone who understands that confidence doesn't happen overnight. A quiet home, gentle voices, patience and giving me space to come out in my own time would mean the world to me. Older kids or an adult-only home would probably suit me best.
I may not be the cat who runs up to greet you on day one.
But maybe, with a little time and a lot of kindness, I could become the cat who does.
I just need someone to give me that chance.
Spike is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Cleo - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
