My Ideal Home:
• I need to go to a home with another dog in the home. I am unsure of the world and need a doggy playmate to help me boost my confidence and to show me that the world isn’t a scary place.
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• Because I can be a little shy in new situations, I’d be happiest in a calm, adult home without young children who might accidentally startle me.
• I may have had a sheltered life so socialisation is just as important as training for me. Visiting new places and meeting a variety of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted companion and to help build my confidence. I am becoming bracer every day at the shelter.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.

Dog Compatibility:
• I’d love a friendly, calm, gentle dog companion would suit me best. I’ll thrive with gradual, positive socialisation that will keep me happy and more confident.
• I’m comfortable with dogs around my own size, but much larger dogs can make me uneasy.
• I need a doggy companion to keep me company when my family isn’t home. I can feel lonely and a bit anxious when left alone, which may lead to barking or destructive behaviour.

Cat / small animal:
• I was unsure around cats at the shelter and may become more inquisitive as my confidence grows. If I join a home with a cat, they’ll need to be dog-savvy and introductions must be gradual and well managed.

My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m gentle and placid in nature.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans, once I get to know you.
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure when I settled in and have come out of my shell.

Training:
• I haven’t had any formal training yet, so I’ll need help with all my basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• My recall needs work, as I can sometimes ignore you if I’m distracted — this is something we’ll need to practice together.
• I can be nervous around other dogs who are too full-on or reactive towards me. Controlled, positive socialisation experiences will help me build confidence and learn that other dogs aren’t so scary.
• I’m shy when meeting new people and in unfamiliar environments, and I can be extremely timid when entering buildings or homes. I’ll need a patient family who will allow me indoors, move at my pace, and gently build my confidence through ongoing socialisation.
• I can feel anxious when left alone in the backyard and may become vocal, barking or whining. A home where I can spend plenty of time indoors, have lots of company, and be provided with enrichment toys or treats when alone would suit me best.
• I’m not housetrained yet, as I haven’t previously been allowed inside, so I’ll need guidance and consistency to learn.

Other:
• I’ve had very little exposure to the outside world. Everything is quite new to me, so I’ll need a patient family to gently socialise me and show me that the world isn’t such a scary place.
• I’m quite shy when I first meet new people, so I’ll need a family who will give me time and space to settle in at my own pace, without pressure.
• A quiet home with no young children (under 12) would suit me best, as I’m easily startled and need a calm environment where I can feel safe and secure.
• I’ve never been allowed indoors before, but I would truly love to be included as part of the family and spend time inside with my people.

Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Quill if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
