About Ember
Ember - The Gentle Matriarch Ready for Her Own Home
Ember came into care from a colony in Western Melbourne, where we believe she may have been the quiet matriarch looking out for the other females and kittens around her.
Not long after arriving in care, we discovered Ember was pregnant. She went on to raise four beautiful kittens of her own and when another mum in the same foster home was struggling to care for and feed her four kittens, Ember stepped in and took them on as her own too.
Eight kittens later, Ember had more than earned the chance to finally put herself first.
She is a beautiful, quiet and incredibly gentle girl. Our vet believes she may have Nebelung ancestry, possibly with some Ragdoll influence, although her exact heritage is unknown.
Ember loves basking in the sun, sleeping on your bed and simply being close to her people without demanding attention. She is fantastic with other cats, good with dogs and clearly gains confidence from having feline companionship around her.
She is still shy and cautious with people and can be easily startled, but she has come a long way. Ember will happily eat from your hand, is comfortable with you sitting beside her and will allow the occasional gentle pat as she continues to learn that people can be trusted.
Her current foster home is very busy, and we believe Ember would truly blossom in a quieter home where she can settle at her own pace. She doesn’t need someone to push her — just someone patient who will give her the time and space to keep building confidence.
Ember is very close to Sable and would love to be adopted with him. Otherwise, she would be happiest in a home with a friendly, confident cat who would enjoy having her as a companion.
After spending so much of her life caring for everyone else, Ember deserves a peaceful home where she can finally be the one who is loved and looked after.
Best suited to:
A calm, patient home
Someone happy to let her build trust in her own time
A home with Sable, or another friendly cat
Cat-friendly dogs are absolutely fine
Someone who appreciates a gentle, quiet companion
Ember may not be the cat who runs straight into your arms on day one - but she is the kind of girl whose trust will mean everything once you earn it.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
