About Possum
*In foster care in North Kellyville, Sydney*
Possum is a quiet girl with a heart of gold who thrives on routine. Coming from a hoarding situation she was initially under-socialised, so she's on a learning curve - but she's quickly discovering that people are much less scary than she'd expected, and often the source of neck scratches and treats!
Young and playful, Possum loves a good wand toy and enjoys chasing a bell toy up and down the hallways of her foster home. She's got an independent nature too, happy to invent games by herself and then take herself off for a snooze when she feels like it :)
She's also recently found out that she can join the humans sleeping on the bed! She's been learning to come when called and responds to 'puss puss' when the foster humans call her for dinner.
Right now, this is Possum's report card:
A+ for using the litter box
B+ for scratching on her posts and boards and not the furniture
A+ for finding warm sleeping spots in the house
B+ for playtime antics
'Room for Improvement' for playing nicely with other cats and sleeping through the night...
Possum's still learning to relax and trust, and while she may not yet be a cuddle bug she's had huge progress in only a few weeks of foster care. With the right home we're confident she'll absolutely shine!
Like all Maggie’s pets, Possum is microchipped, desexed, and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: I'd best suit a patient and kind single person, couple, or family with older children who understand that too much noise and bustle can overwhelm me. I'm not the needy sort, so if you've always wanted a cat but work full-time and thought you may not have enough time to look after one, I'm the purrfect little lady for you!
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I come alive at dawn and dusk, ready to play in short bursts before or after meals. Throughout the day I'm content to seek out a warm spot and nap for hours.
I'm slowly learning to sleep through the night, and having a routine to my day will help me with this even more. I'm not demanding but I do like hanging out with you, and I'll often sit somewhere nearby while you work or watch TV :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Older kids (8+) who understand they'll need to earn my trust and affection over time would be the best match. While I love to play with toys, I'm not a toy myself and I prefer not to be picked up please!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Introduction to another adult cat would require a slow transition over several weeks. I'm in foster care with another cat from my original home as well as older resident cats and we get along fine, but I do prefer my own (and human) company.
I don't have any experience with dogs at this stage.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
