About Jelly Bean
*In foster care in Manly, Sydney*
Jelly Bean is the sweetest little soul with a very big personality! Born with an eye condition that left her with limited sight, she was sadly dumped in a cardboard box. Although she looked like a tiny kitten when she arrived, we later discovered she was actually around three years old... and after complications with her eyes we made the decision that both needed to be removed.
Thankfully, Jelly Bean hasn’t let ANY of this slow her down! Having always had limited vision, she's adapted incredibly well to being completely blind. She knows her surroundings, gets around confidently and can even jump up and down from furniture once she's worked out where she is.
She's very curious, confident and a wonderfully affectionate girl. She loves greeting guests, exploring what’s going on and following her humans around like a little shadow. She’s also very chatty and will call out when she can’t find you until you answer!
Jelly Bean is a total love bug who loves laps, being held, headbutts and as much attention as she can get. (Her foster carers call her a stage 2 clinger!) When she’s not snuggling, she loves to play, especially with ping pong balls, which she can hear rolling around :) She also loves having a feline friend! Having another cat around helps her navigate her surroundings, gives her someone to follow and learn from, and of course, provides a buddy to play and cuddle with.
Jelly Bean may not have eyes, but she certainly doesn’t think she’s any different and we're looking for a home that can see how special she is!
Like all Maggie’s pets, Jelly Bean is microchipped, desexed, and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... is with someone who'll love me for my special quirks, not despite them. I can't wait to show you just how capable I am!
I'll thrive with patient, loving humans who can provide a safe, consistent indoor environment where I can learn my surroundings and feel secure. It's important that furniture placement, general clutter etc doesn't change too much, so I can rely on my memory and get around easily :)
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Low to medium, I'd say. I adore playtime - I get particularly excited chasing ping pong balls as they bounce and roll around! - and I also enjoy the occasional zoomy. But I'm equally happy curled up for hours on my favourite person’s lap.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I think I'd like living with gentle, respectful children who understand that I experience the world differently. I love affection and cuddles, but kids will need to learn to approach and handle me in a predictable and safe way.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: A nice cat companion in my forever home is a must! Kitty company is the best and I'd definitely benefit from a confident feline friend who'll play, explore and snuggle with me.
I've also spent time with a gentle cat-savvy dog who has a calm and patient nature, and that's been fun too!
Medical notes
Jellybean is healthy, however she has had both eyes removed and will need some special accommodations in her new home, as per her profile.

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
