Hi I'm Ernie!
Ark saved me from the pound and I'm loving life in my foster home but I would really rather a permanent home of my own. I just love everything about people and other dogs.
A bit about me: I am a very handsome (if I do say so myself) kelpie cross .... kelpie cross what I dont know. Some photos of me I think Lab, others I just think pure amazing! Some have described me as a "velcro Staffy" since I love my people so much.
I have met a cat and boy did it scare the heck out of me. It was a bit mean but if you have a friendly cat I wont hurt it I'll just have to get brave enough not to run away. At my first foster home I interacted with chickens and they were OK.
I have seen a giant horse. He got a fright because I was frightened of the cat. Then we both ran away together. I had to get inside quickly because how can you trust something that big and him... actually I don't know where he went.
I love, love, love my people. I want to be near them as much as possible. I like to follow you around everywhere you go and I do get sad sometimes if you leave me alone but I get over it, quickly.
I am toilet trained and I sleep quite happily alone in a crate all night long. If you were happy for me to sleep on your bed or on the couch I would be happy for that too!
I am pretty handy at jumping a fence but in my defence I only jump the fence so I can be near my people, I dont run away I just want to be close to you.
My foster mum has described me as a bit of a goofball and says I may be "the dumbest smart dog" that she has met. Don't know why: I have bumped into a closed door (innocent mistake), barked at a ceiling fan when it was moving and I didnt expect it to, got stuck behind an open door because I didn't realise I couldnt just walk around it. I'm just a young guy out there looking for love.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
