Great companion dog

This beautiful, big, gentle boof boy loves nothing more than chasing a ball or playing with his stuffed toy. He’s still got plenty of puppy in him. He looks like a little bear at 43kg, and that big fluffy shepherd tail of his is at the perfect height to wipe out a glass on a coffee table, but that is as destructive as this boy gets.

Mousetrap is a peaceful lad who sleeps through the night, rarely barks, doesn’t jump on people or rush the front door when someone arrives, is good on leash and doesn’t lunge or pull, has good recall and is house-trained. He already has a few tricks to impress you with, and is more than happy to learn a few more.

Mousetrap is also a bit shy with people at first, but he warms up quickly (especially if you offer to throw his ball or toy for him); with dogs, he’s always happy to say hi, regardless of size – even if they yell at him. He’s a bit scared of unknown sounds and sudden movements and can be skittish and stressed in environments that have a lot of noise and bustle, but he adapts with regular contact. He is learning not to bark or fuss when he is left, and even if he does, he will settle after a few minutes. He gives a woof sometimes when something frightens him, but he’s shown no aggression to anything.

Mousetrap’s rotty/GSD breeding shows in his desire to be a great companion – he’s happiest when his people are nearby and safe. He’s good as an only dog, but also would enjoy a dog companion to give him confidence, especially if his person is going to be out for long periods. He will respond best to a bit of patience while he finds his feet in a new environment.
