Adler is the smallest boy in our Typewriter Litter, weighing in at 8.9 kg, but there is nothing particularly "small" about his personality.

He is a friendly, happy and slightly cheeky young fellow — a bit of a loveable larrikin who approaches life with plenty of enthusiasm.

Adler recently had his first veterinary visit and was a very good boy. He was relaxed about being examined and comfortable with the vet handling him, which is lovely to see in such a young puppy and another indication that he has had a good start with people.

Like his littermates, Adler is a Kelpie × German Shepherd Dog, a combination which is likely to produce a bright, active and very trainable dog. At this age, of course, much of the finished product will depend on what happens from here.

Adler will need:

✓ Plenty of companionship and involvement in family life
✓ Kind, consistent training and sensible boundaries
✓ Continued socialisation with people, dogs and the wider world
✓ Age-appropriate exercise as he grows
✓ Mental stimulation for that busy young brain
✓ Secure fencing and a family prepared for an active adolescent dog

He is unlikely to be a dog who will thrive if routinely left alone in a backyard for long periods. Adler will do best as a proper member of the family, with people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life.

Deferred Desexing Program

Because Adler is still a young puppy, he is being offered for adoption under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program.

This means he can join his new family now rather than remaining in foster care until he is old enough to be desexed. His adopter will sign ARK’s Deferred Desexing Puppy Adoption Contract, agreeing to prevent him from breeding and to have him desexed on or before 3 March 2027, when he reaches nine months of age.

Desexing is covered by the adoption fee, subject to the terms and conditions of ARK’s Deferred Desexing Puppy Adoption Contract.

As Adler has not yet completed his puppy vaccination course, his adopter will also need to continue his vaccinations with their own vet. Until that vet confirms he is parvo safe, he should not be taken into public places where unvaccinated dogs may have been, as parvovirus can persist in contaminated environments.

Adler has the makings of a terrific family dog: friendly, confident with people, bright and just mischievous enough to keep life interesting.
