About Tessa
Meet Tessa! 🐕
Tessa is a 7 month Border Collie x Terrier mix who is in foster care with a 10yo male poodle x & 3yo female kelpie x in a quiet peaceful country house.
TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOUR
Interaction with adults: Shy at first but loves people, very cuddly.
Interaction with children: Adores them, would love to be part of a family with kids to play with and cuddle.
Suitable child age range: Any ages as long as she’s supervised around very small children as she can jump occasionally when excited but generally she’s quite gentle.
Interaction with other dogs: Loves other dogs, fairly submissive at first but playful and friendly. She can get in their faces at times, so a tolerant dog sibling would be best.
Tessa would love another friendly playful dog to hang out and play with. She has shown interest in chasing birds and rabbits so probably not suited to living with them.
She is a medium to high energy pup and for this reason she would be best suited to a home with another dog. Her happiness is our priority.
Confidence level: Moderate - Shy at first but soon comes out of her shell. She’s a little unsure around loud noises and new busy places but is building confidence.
Tessa can be shy and submissive at first, but when she feels comfortable her true personality comes out and she shows her playful, energetic and silly side, aka Tornado Tess. She loves to be active but also enjoys a snuggle on the couch.
She would love a friendly dog to play with and would also love to have human siblings, would be a great little family dog.
Housetrained: In progress ( doing well but still needs to be taken outside regularly and not expected to take herself out)
Crate trained: Yes
Uses doggy door: Yes
Responds to name: Yes
Walks well on lead: Yes
Commands known: Sit, recall
Behaviour on walks: Enjoys her walks and is well behaved, is fine going past people, bikes, cars etc.
Behaviour in the car: good, usually has a nap.
Independence level: Does love to have someone around most of the time, either human or canine.
Favourite activities: eating, chewing, playing and cuddles.
Favourite treats/toys: loves all treats and likes balls, squeaky toys and toys she can chew.
Daily routine in foster home: morning walks then breakfast and nap time, play time with her foster sister, then evening walk followed by cuddles on the couch before bed.
Sleeping habits: sleeps in her crate, settles well and sleeps quietly through the night.
Special quirks or adorable behaviours:
She jumps like a ninja sometimes when she’s playing with her foster sister and bounds across the yard when she’s excited or sees a bird.
She also likes to help out with the chores occasionally, like taking the washing off the line and digging holes in the garden for new plants 🤣.
Just to be aware that she’s still young and going through the adolescent stage so will need continued training and exercise. Likes to chew, so needs to have her own toys and treats to chew on so she won’t chew on things that aren’t meant for her.
She definitely has more of a terrier personality than collie.
Tessa is smart, sweet, fun and cute. Has basic training but still young and ready for a new life full of love and adventures with her very own family.
Love & licks!
