Meet 6 month old, Kayah.

Kayah is one of Salamai’s puppies and she came with a hidden superpower…….she’s deaf!

Although she had her since birth, Kayah’s owner had no idea that she had any issues with her hearing and was shocked when we shared this news.

Discovered during her recent vet visit, Kayah showed the telltale signs of being sound asleep in a busy vet clinic and not reacting to all the noise around her. Further testing revealed that our girl had been extremely good at hiding that she could not hear.

Despite her deafness, little 4 kg Kayah is a confident, playful, normal little pup. She can be bossy and assertive, but she is a sweetheart who just wants to be with her human. Due to her deafness, she can be a little yappy when excited but she is easily redirected.

Kayah is a clever little pup. True to her Mini Foxie genes, she is tenacious and loves to keep her mind busy. She will excel in a home who is willing to teach her sign language and give her lots of love.

Training deaf dogs can actually be easier than training dogs who can hear as they do not get distracted by what is going on around them. Like all puppies, Kayah needs ongoing training to help her grow into the best girl she can be.

Kayah is both dog and cat friendly. She is fun and affectionate and wonderful. She is just like any other pup her age, she just needs a family who loves and understands her.
