About Poppy
Meet Poppy 🐾
Poppy is a confident, happy and playful girl who absolutely loves attention — in her opinion, there is no such thing as too much human company! She is affectionate, friendly and loves being involved with her people. She also has a wonderfully playful side and enjoys nothing more than a good game of fetch followed by some zoomies.
Poppy has good house manners and is toilet trained. She walks well on lead, has good recall and knows commands including sit, down, come and leave it. She loves car rides, chewing and licking, and enjoys her dental treats. She sleeps happily in her crate at night and is comfortable being crated when her people are out. She is generally a very happy, confident girl when meeting people and thinks strangers are wonderful.
Despite her age, Poppy still has plenty of fun and energy and would enjoy a home where she can continue to play and have regular exercise, while also having plenty of time to relax with her people. She can be quite vocal in her own home, although interestingly she is much more relaxed and quiet when visiting other homes.
Poppy is best suited to being the only dog. She can become over-excited when meeting other dogs and has snapped at dogs who have pushed her boundaries, so she needs a home where she won't be expected to socialise with other dogs. She has lived with cats and can live with them, although she may be inclined to chase them initially. Her owner feels she would be happiest as the only pet, and we think this is the safest and simplest option for her.
Poppy hasn't lived with children, so a home with older, sensible children would be preferable, particularly as she is an older girl who may not appreciate being accidentally hurt or handled roughly.
Poppy does have some age-related health needs, including floating patellas and a slipping hip, so her new family will need to be prepared to keep up with her ongoing care and monitor her mobility. She currently receives Rose-Hip Vital for joint health and general wellbeing.
Poppy is a lovely, people-focused girl who still has plenty of personality and playfulness to offer. She would love a home where she can be the centre of attention, enjoy her daily games of fetch, and then settle down comfortably beside her favourite people.
