About Rusty
Hi, I’m Rusty, and if you’re looking for a dog who is clever, athletic and genuinely loves working with his person, I might be exactly what you’re looking for.
One of the biggest things my foster carers have discovered about me is that I am seriously smart. I learn incredibly quickly, I’m attentive to my handler and I really want to get things right.
I already know sit, stay and come, I’m Halti trained, and I’ve been working on my lead manners and learning how to settle and be calm. Show me what you want, be consistent with me, and I pick things up remarkably fast.
And I LOVE having something to do.
I’m a very fit, active dog, and my combination of brains, athleticism and eagerness to work means I could be an amazing prospect for someone interested in agility, obedience, dog sports or other training activities. I don’t just need someone to exercise my legs — I’d really thrive with someone who enjoys exercising my brain as well.
I’m also a people dog. I’m affectionate, responsive and keen to please, and I particularly seem to enjoy the company of men. I’ve previously lived with children without any concerns.
I’m crate trained, travel well in the car and can happily spend time on my own in a crate or dog pen.
When it comes to other dogs, I need the right match. I can potentially live with a confident, well-balanced dog that will set clear boundaries, particularly with an experienced owner who can continue helping me develop appropriate social skills. Otherwise, I’d be very happy starting out as your only dog and having all that training time to myself.
I could also potentially thrive in a rural or farm environment where I have space and purpose, but it’s important to know that I have not been trained or tested on stock.
What I really need is someone who looks at me and sees my potential.
Give me clear boundaries, training, something to work towards and plenty of involvement in your life, and I think I could be an absolutely incredible dog.

Adoption details
All animals adopted from Goulburn Valley Pet Adoption & Rehoming come with a 1 month trial period. This trial period is to ensure your new family member has enough time to settle into their new environment, and you can both be sure it's the right fit. During this time, do not hesitate to get in contact with us if there are any issues, concerns or questions. If for whatever reason, you decide during the trial period that it's not the right fit, get in contact with us and we will take the animal back into our care, and your adoption fee will be refunded to you. Also, if at anytime during the course of your pets life, you are unable to care for them anymore, we will happily welcome them back.
