Meet Benji — a big, lovable boofhead with a very big personality and an even bigger love of food. ❤️

Benji absolutely adores a good nose or cheek rub and is extremely food motivated, so winning him over through his stomach is definitely the way to his heart! He’s also incredibly curious and wants to be involved in *everything* you’re doing. Cooking? He’s interested. Moving around the house? He’s coming to investigate. Other pets? He definitely wants to know what they’re up to!

Benji is a cat who knows his own mind, though, and he’s very good at setting boundaries. We’ve learned that when he sits on his particular box, it means: “I’m happy for you to be nearby, but please do not touch me right now.”😂

He really needs a home that understands and respects this. Benji does best when he’s allowed to explore and do his own thing, and when people let him approach them on his terms. He wouldn’t be suited to young children or anyone who is likely to be grabby, overly hands-on or expect constant cuddles.

Benji can give a little bite when he’s had enough touching or when he’s very keen for food. He’s not trying to be nasty — he’s just still learning that his enthusiasm and very large head come with a rather impressive amount of bite force! 😂 His future family will need to understand his communication and give him space when he asks for it.

He’s also very curious about other animals, although we’re still learning how he would go living with other pets unsupervised. Slow introductions and careful management would be essential.

Underneath the big boofhead exterior is a wonderfully entertaining, affectionate and curious cat who will keep you laughing and make himself part of your everyday life.

Benji is looking for someone who will love him for the cat he is — not try to turn him into a cat he isn’t. If you respect his boundaries, let him come to you and give him the freedom to be his wonderfully weird self, he’ll be a very special companion. 🧡
