Boral

Boral doesn't make the best first impression, but give him a few minutes and he might just change your mind.

This handsome boy came into our care as a stray with no identification, and shelter life has been overwhelming for him. When Boral feels unsure, he tends to make himself small, keep his distance and quietly watch what's happening around him. He's particularly sensitive to sudden movement and unfamiliar people, so it would be easy to meet him briefly and assume he simply wants to be left alone.

But spend a little more time with him and you'll start to see the Boral we've gotten to know.

Approach gently, offer him something tasty and suddenly he's coming forward. He'll sniff your hand, give little headbutts and start leaning into scratches around his head and cheeks. Food is definitely one of the quickest ways to his heart, but even once the treats are gone, Boral has chosen to stay nearby and continue interacting. He genuinely enjoys affection. He just needs to feel safe enough to accept it.

Boral isn't asking for someone to turn him into the bravest cat in the world. He needs a calm home and someone who understands that trust happens on his terms. Give him somewhere safe to settle, let him make his own choices and celebrate those little moments when he decides to come closer. We think getting this sensitive boy out of the shelter and watching him finally relax into home life could be incredibly rewarding.

Boral is FIV positive and has a Grade 1 heart murmur. He also has mild Grade 1 dental disease that can be managed with good dental home care. Before adoption, one of our vets will have a chat with you about Boral's medical history and waivers, what they mean for him and any ongoing care he may need.

Boral has plenty stacked against him when people are choosing a cat, but none of those things change the lovely boy underneath. He enjoys good food, gentle pats and having someone willing to give him a chance. We really hope someone does.
