About Riley
Riley is an affectionate, people loving dog through and through. He’s happiest curled up close to you, following you room to room, leaning in for pats, just wanting to be part of whatever’s going on. He’s fantastic with kids and has been a huge hit with the children in his foster home, who he adores right back.
He loves his daily walks and looks forward to them. He’s settled in well after a short adjustment period in his first week (some separation anxiety early on, now much improved with routine and reassurance). He’s about 80% of the way there with house training and gets a little better every week. Good with other dogs, relaxed and social. Hasn’t been around cats yet, so that’s untested.
As a dachshund, Riley’s a strictly indoor dog with a garden he’s happy to potter around in. He’s not built for rough outdoor living or jumping on and off furniture. Riley will need a secure, escape‑proof yard with no gaps under fences or gates.
He’d suit a home with people around often, since he’s not one for long stretches alone, and a family who’ll keep building on the training foundation he’s already got, and who’ll keep up his daily walks.
