About Jake
Jake is a much-loved family dog who is now looking for a calm, child free home where he can relax and thrive. Despite his family’s best efforts, Jake has struggled to adjust to the arrival of young children, and needs a home where he can have some peace!
Jake loves being with his people and will shadow you around at home. He spends his time sleeping in sunny spots, rolling in the grass, chewing toys, and playing “find your bone.” Jake enjoys simple routines, is very food motivated. He likes short walks in familiar locations. Jake does best as an only dog in a calm environment and will warm up to new adults after a short time.
Jake is comfortable spending his days alone while his family works or is away, and although he can be prone to separation anxiety, it is well managed with medication, predictable routines, and the freedom to move between indoor and outdoor spaces using a doggy door.
If you feel you can offer sweet Jake a steady, peaceful home where he can relax and feel safe, his family would love to hear from you.
Medical notes
In February 2023 Jake had surgery for a ruptured disc in his back. He made a very good recovery with only minor ongoing lameness in his right hind leg. Jake has a diagnosis of degenerative disc disease, which has been stable since his surgery.
