Missy is a black Miniature Poodle whose great ambition in life is simply to be with her person.
At just 4.5 kgs, she is little, but she has a great deal of affection to give. Missy bonds almost immediately, will pop onto your lap without hesitation and is happiest when she is close to someone she loves.
She wants company virtually all the time, loves physical closeness and would be very happy to sleep beside her person at night. She is a genuine Velcro dog — not the sort of little dog who wants to spend long hours by herself.
For the right person, that is exactly her appeal.
Missy is also very dog-friendly and has lived with other dogs all her life. She enjoys canine company, but we think she could be equally happy as an only dog provided her person is around almost all the time. For Missy, human company is the thing that matters most.
We think she could be particularly lovely company for an older person who spends plenty of time at home and would enjoy having a devoted little lap dog as a constant companion. She is affectionate, needy and very quick to form a close attachment.

Missy has not lived with children or cats while in foster care, so we cannot make any claims about how she would behave with either.
As a Poodle, she will need regular professional grooming throughout her life, together with normal coat care at home.
Missy is looking for someone who doesn’t merely tolerate a little dog underfoot, on their lap and beside them in bed — she is looking for someone who actively wants that kind of relationship.
If your idea of the perfect companion is 4.5 kilograms of black Poodle who thinks being separated from you by three feet is quite far enough, Missy may be your girl.

Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Missy has some mild staining of her teeth and may require a scale and clean in the future, but her teeth do not currently warrant treatment.
Heartworm Information
We don't know if Chonk has been treated with heartworm protection in the past. However, heartworm disease is uncommon in the Southern Downs, so ARK does not routinely heartworm test or administer heartworm prevention to dogs in our care. Should a successful applicant wish to have a heartworm test performed before adoption, we are happy to arrange this.
Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
