Meet Toby, an absolute boofhead! This gorgeous two year old American Staffy is the definition of a lovable teddy bear.

Toby originally came to our care as a surrender when his previous family experienced a change in living circumstances and heartbreakingly couldn't take him along. Now, this big boy is ready to find a fresh start and a couch of his very own.

True to his title as a certified big lug, Toby is quite strong on the lead, but he already has a great head start on his manners and knows how to sit like the very good boy he is. When meeting new people, he is actually quite relaxed, though we still want his future family to take things slow and steady.

Because he is still building his confidence around new people and unfamiliar environments, there's no rushing into anything with Toby! He will need a patient family committed to positive, force free training, helping him happily associate new experiences with gentle handling and leash work.

To help him feel completely safe and secure, Toby needs to be the sole king of his castle as the only dog in the household. Because of his generous size and strength, we recommend a home with high school aged kids who can understand his gentle learning curve and match his easygoing nature.

When he is not working on his confidence or mastering new skills, Toby is a world class couch potato who loves nothing more than sprawling out for a massive snooze. However, don't let his love for naps fool you! He is a young dog who still needs a good daily dose of exercise to keep that big body and clever mind happy and healthy.

If you have a big heart, plenty of patience, and room on your couch for a very special, big hearted companion, Toby is more than ready to lumber right into your life and become your best friend.
