Treacle is an absolute sweetheart of a dog who has her priorities set in life: pats, snacks, naps and playtime. In that order. 80% of the time she is a gentle, chilled natured dog, content to be around her humans and enjoying lazing around with minimal fuss. The other 20% of the time she is an energetic boof-head who thinks she is a giant lapdog.

Treacle has clearly had training before coming into foster care. She responds well to sit, stop, yes, uh-nuh(no). Knows to sit before going in/out of front door and before being fed. She also helps you put her harness on before walks, is happy in the car travelling and can be bathed without any dramas. Essentially Treacle is an easy companion dog who learns the daily routine very quickly. She has been a pleasure to have around! She is also very food focused and in turn it has been easy to reinforce these commands.

She walks well, setting into a stride on the right side of her humans fairly quickly. She walks on a harness as she is deceptively strong when pulling to go say hello to another dog, or when she sees a bird that she wants to chase. Once again: 80% chill, 20% boof.

Additionally she enjoys interacting with every dog she sees and in giving people kisses. Her kind nature is inquisitive but we are reinforcing that not every stranger or dog necessarily wants to interact with her. She has made great progress with this so far. She has also met several dogs for joint walks and after the initial excitement, she walks well together.

At home, Treacle has fantastic bladder control and can be left up to 6 hours by herself whilst her humans are at work. She settles well with her Kong, snacks/water and bed without destructive behaviors. Overnight, she sleeps well on her chair and does not bark, instead waiting to be taken out for toilet time in the morning.

Upon saying hello, she often stands on her back legs and leans in against people whilst being patted and smiling. This has been fine for adults but may be too strong for children.

If the amount of pats are not satisfactory, Treacle will come and place her head on your lap or gently pat you herself with her paw. Pats are a priority for her and she won’t let you forget. Treacle also loves a chew toy whilst we are at home and will happily work off extra energy on those.

During play time, this is an area where Treacle is still learning. She enjoys chasing tennis balls, playing tag and tug of war. From the gentle natured dog, she becomes a running, spinning, bouncing acrobat during exercise.

She is a physical dog when playing and sometimes will jump up with her whole entire body weight. I don't believe she has had a lot of play in her life previous to foster care and will go a bit sheepish when realising that she is playing too rough. She will stop on command and then give licks before resuming play. For this reason, Treacle would be best suited to a household that has teens and upwards. She may accidentally knock a child over or be too strong for a pensioner.

Overall Treacle has been a fantastic foster. Genuinely one of the easiest, hassle free, happy go lucky foster dogs that we have had the pleasure of caring for!
Her loving personality will be a wholesome addition to many a home and she will continue to make friends wherever she goes.

Treacle would thrive in a lifestyle where she can have a steady mixture of companionship, outdoor exercise and mental stimulation. Whilst also having her own space to relax. We will most definitely miss this sweetheart when she moves to her forever home.
