Pee-Wee and Sweet-Pea are a bonded father-and-daughter pair of Chinese Crested Dogs who have always had one another for company and are looking for a home together.
They have now spent around two and a half months in foster care, giving their foster family plenty of time to get to know them. Both are affectionate, people-oriented little dogs who love being close to their humans, but they have their own quite distinct personalities.
❤️ Pee-Wee
Pee-Wee is an exceptionally gentle and loving little fellow.
He adores a cuddle and will happily climb onto your lap and press himself against you to make quite sure you understand that more affection is required. He likes to follow his people around the house and very much enjoys being part of whatever is going on.
He is also bright, obedient and eager to please. He comes when called, quickly understands what is being asked of him and should be very easy to continue training.
And then there is food.
Pee-Wee is enormously food-motivated and his foster mum suspects he would probably learn to walk on his hind legs if there were a sufficiently worthwhile titbit involved.
He can initially be a little reserved while he works out his surroundings, but once comfortable his confidence appears and the lap dog emerges.
On lead, Pee-Wee likes to be out in front investigating all the interesting smells. He does not pull hard, but tends to keep a little pressure on the lead because he would rather not be held back from whatever is ahead.
❤️ Sweet-Pea
Sweet-Pea is every bit as fond of affection and cuddles, although she has a slightly more sensitive nature.
When she first arrived in foster care, she was unsettled and became anxious if her foster family disappeared from view, even into another room. With time, routine and reassurance, that has improved enormously.
She now understands that her people come back. If her foster mum leaves in the car she may have a little whine initially, but she settles. We would expect her to need a similar period of adjustment in a new home while she learns that she is safe and that her new family can be trusted to return.
Sweet-Pea is less food-driven than Pee-Wee at mealtimes and sometimes seems to wait for a little reassurance before beginning her dinner. Once she starts, however, she has no difficulty finishing it.
Treats are another matter. Sweet-Pea considers a particularly good treat worth protecting and may hide it in a blanket and growl if another dog gets too close to her treasure. This is easily managed by giving high-value treats separately and allowing her to enjoy them in peace.
She is also the household doorbell. Sweet-Pea will let everyone know if somebody comes too close to the front door, but settles when reassured that everything is all right. Pee-Wee generally observes proceedings from a safer distance, ready to provide moral support if required.
On lead, Sweet-Pea is an easy little walking companion and walks alongside you at your pace.
🐾 Life Together
Pee-Wee and Sweet-Pea are very comfortable with one another and will often curl up together in the same bed.
At night they like being close to their people. In foster care they sleep on their foster mum's bed, although they will stay in an allocated sleeping spot when asked and are equally happy to use their own bed.
Both are social with other dogs and live very comfortably with their foster mum’s two Maltese crosses.
Their toilet training is good provided they are kept to a sensible routine. They do not use a doggy door, so their family will need to let them outside regularly. Both know the words “wee wee” and respond by going outside to toilet.
Their foster mum describes them as affectionate dogs who simply like being with their people. Pee-Wee is the placid, food-loving little shadow; Sweet-Pea is the slightly more watchful member of the partnership who takes a little longer to feel completely secure.
🏡 Their Ideal Home
Pee-Wee and Sweet-Pea need a home together.
They would suit people who genuinely want their dogs to be part of everyday family life — indoors, close by and included.
Sweet-Pea will need patience and reassurance while she adjusts to a new environment, rather than being expected to feel completely secure from day one. Once trust is established, her foster experience suggests that she settles very well.
Their new family should also be prepared to maintain their toileting routine, manage high-value treats sensibly around Sweet-Pea, and continue the gentle routines and boundaries both dogs have responded to so well in foster care.
In return, these two little characters offer a great deal of affection, companionship and devotion — with Pee-Wee providing the lap cuddles and Sweet-Pea keeping an eye on the front door.
Pee-Wee and Sweet-Pea have spent their lives together. We would like the next chapter to be together too.

Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Chinese Crested Dogs need a little extra attention to skin care and diet. A good-quality, nutritionally balanced diet helps support healthy skin and coat. Their exposed skin should be kept clean and moisturised with gentle, dog-safe products, checked regularly for dryness, irritation or blocked pores, and protected from strong sun. Harsh shampoos and human skincare products should be avoided. With a sensible routine, their skin is usually quite straightforward to maintain.
