Meet Barney, a gorgeous and clever dog who is ready to find a patient family to call his own!

Barney is a remarkably quick learner and is already very easy to train. He is nearly fully toilet trained, relying gently on being taken outside at the right moments, and already knows how to sit on command. When he is not swept up in a wave of high energy, he will happily retreat to his designated bed when asked.

Barney forms exceptionally deep attachments to his people, showing just how loyal and loving he can be. He has a sensitive side and can feel a bit uncertain when meeting new people or encountering other dogs on walks, so it is important that his future family goes slow with introductions to new people and other dogs. Barney will thrive best in a quiet, predictable home with a family experienced in reading dog body language and building confidence at a slow, comforting pace.

Being only 3 months old, it's imperative that Barney's future family understands the hard work that comes with adopting a puppy, especially one that is a working breed. Maremmas are guardian dogs that take their work very seriously, so Barney's adopters will need to ensure they are meeting his needs. This looks like puppy school, long walks, obedience training and early socialisation in positive, gradual encounters.
