Meet Hazel, a remarkably clever and handsome four year old Kelpie whose bright spirit remains completely unbowed.

Hazel originally came to our shelter as a surrender when his previous owner experienced a change in living circumstances that unfortunately made it impossible to provide the care he needed. Rather than letting this setback get him down, Hazel has kept his chin up and is eagerly waiting for his perfect people to step through our doors and offer him the active, fulfilling home he deserves.

As a brilliant working dog, Hazel is exceptionally smart and thrives on mental stimulation. He will do best in a household that can provide the consistent enrichment, physical exercise, and ongoing training that intelligent working breeds crave.

Because of his herding heritage and drive, Hazel requires an active lifestyle and will need to be the only furry friend in his forever home, happily soaking up all of your attention without any competition.

Our team has found that Hazel is best suited for a home with high school aged children, provided they have prior experience with working dogs and understand how to respect his boundaries. While Hazel is an absolute sweetheart at his core, he is a sensitive soul who can take a little time to fully warm up to new people.

With a generous dose of patience, gentle guidance, and unconditional love, Hazel will blossom into the most loyal, devoted, and rewarding companion you could ever hope to find.
