About Flora
Flora is almost 10 years old and, when she first arrived at the shelter, she was absolutely terrified of life. Everything about the shelter environment was overwhelming, and she was so shut down that she spent her first days hiding her head in corners and refusing to come out of her carrier.
Thankfully, Flora was given the chance to head into foster care with one of our experienced foster carers, where she could decompress, feel safe and have some respite while her medical concerns were addressed.
And what a difference it has made.
Once Flora realised she was safe, her true personality started to shine through, and WOW, does this girl have love to give!
Flora is EXTREMELY affectionate, with absolutely no signs of aggression. In fact, within just two minutes of arriving at her foster home, she was purring loudly, rolling onto her back for belly scratches and making biscuits like she had been there forever.
She now happily spends hours sleeping and cuddling with her foster family on the lounge, exploring the house and purring almost constantly whenever she is being touched. Once she feels safe, Flora is a very needy little lovebug who would quite happily accept pats, cuddles and attention all day long.
We suspect Flora may become quite shut down again in a shelter environment, so her foster home has given us a really important glimpse into who she truly is. Beneath the frightened, overwhelmed cat we first met is a gentle, affectionate and incredibly loving senior girl who just needs someone to give her the time and security to feel safe.
Flora is looking for a quiet, understanding home where she can settle at her own pace and, once she does, be showered with the cuddles she clearly believes are her human's full-time job.
She may be almost 10, but Flora has absolutely no intention of retiring from her career as a professional cuddlebug.
Flora is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Flora - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
