Meet Jazzy – our beautiful 1.5-year-old sassy tortoiseshell who’s just beginning to blossom.

Jazzy arrived at the Ballarat animal shelter back in December, and while the busy shelter environment wasn’t ideal for a sensitive girl like her, the dedicated staff quickly recognized she needed a quieter path forward. They reached out, and we were lucky enough to welcome her into foster care.

When she first arrived, Jazzy was the definition of a classic shy torti – cautious, watchful, and very much keeping to herself. She spent those early weeks mostly tucked away in her enclosure, observing the world from a safe distance. But with patience, quiet encouragement, and a whole lot of love, something wonderful has started to happen. Every day she’s getting a little braver. Every day that gorgeous personality is shining a little brighter.

And oh, what a personality it is. Jazzy has all the classic “tortitude” you could hope for – that signature mix of independence, sass, and selective affection that tortoiseshell girls are famous for. She’ll let you know exactly how she feels (usually with a look), and she does things firmly on her own terms. But once she decides you’re worth her time? She’s pure magic.

While she can still be a bit timid at first meeting, Jazzy genuinely loves people. Give her a little space and she’ll slowly edge closer for pats and scratches… when she’s in the mood, of course. She also adores her foster brother and sister and is very cat-social – she lights up when she’s interacting with them. Play is another sure-fire way to her heart, and the wand toy is an absolute favourite. Watching her pounce and chase is pure joy.

Jazzy would thrive in a home with an experienced cat owner who can offer time, a quiet space, and zero pressure while she continues to come out of her shell. A household that already has a calm, confident male cat is essential – Jazzy has a clear soft spot for the boys and would love a feline friend who can take her under his wing and show her the ropes in her new home.

About Us

Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.

Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.

Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.

As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.

All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.

Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
