About Bento
Bento is a desexed male domestic cat available for adoption in Ferny Creek, VIC.
Bento has a purr you'll hear from the next room, and he's not shy about telling you when it's cuddle time.
He's a curious, affectionate cat who does things at his own pace. Mornings and evenings are his favourite windows for a proper snuggle, and he has a whole toolkit of ways to let you know he's ready for one.
Bento is looking for a calm, adult-focused home where he's the only pet in the picture. That's when his affectionate side really shines, with all the attention to himself.
A little about Bento:
🐾 He asks to be picked up by stretching up your leg, about as clear a request for a cuddle as you'll get
🐾 His purr is famously loud, and he slow-blinks at the people he trusts most
🐾 Mornings and evenings are his favourite cuddle windows
🐾 He's an avid bird-watcher, happy to spend a morning people-watching (well, bird-watching) from a window
🐾 He's got a bit of cheeky, playful energy: expect him to get even snugglier as he settles into adulthood
A typical Bento day starts with breakfast and a hug, then a morning of window bird-watching and general exploring. Midday calls for a snooze in a sunbeam, and by dinner time he's back in play mode, ready for one more cuddle before bed.
One of his sweetest habits: a gentle squeak when he spots a bird outside, followed by an equally gentle request for a head massage while he dozes off in a warm patch of sun.
Bento shares affection on his own terms: he'll ask for a cuddle, come to you for pats, and reward patience with that famous purr. New people get a slower introduction. He's curious rather than shy, and will come say hello once he's had a moment to size things up in his own time.
Bento would flourish with a household's full attention, rather than sharing the spotlight with another cat. Given his more grown-up nature, teens and up are a great fit, letting him settle in and find his rhythm on his own schedule.
Picture Bento greeting you with a stretch and a hug request each morning, spending his days watching birds from a favourite window, then curling up close for an evening of quiet company and that unmistakable purr.
Bento is ready for a home that's entirely his own: one person or family to shower with slow blinks, head-massage requests, and plenty of that famous purring.
FAQ
Does Bento get along with other cats? Bento is at his best as the only pet in the home, with your full attention to enjoy. That's when his calm, affectionate side really comes through.
Is Bento good with kids? He's a great match for a household with teens or older, rather than very young children. His ideal home is a calm one where he can settle at his own pace.
Does Bento need any ongoing care? He's currently on a low dose of compounded fluoxetine to support him through some recent changes, and it's made a real difference to how settled he feels. Full details are in his health notes below.
What's Bento's personality like day-to-day? Equal parts curious and cuddly. Mornings and evenings are prime snuggle time, and the rest of the day he's happy watching birds or having a play session.
Medical notes
Bento is in good general health. He's currently taking a low dose of compounded fluoxetine, an anti-anxiety medication (the same type sometimes used in people) that vets commonly prescribe to help cats feel calmer during a stressful transition.
It's helping him through his current change in environment, not an ongoing illness. He's calm and affectionate day-to-day, with tension surfacing only around the home's other resident cat.
His complete patient history, including his current medication and dosage, is on file and ready to hand over to his new guardian's veterinary team, who can review together whether he'll need it long-term once he's settled.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
